IN THE NEWS:

• The JSE All Share Index increased from 65 713 on 22 June 2022, to 67 652 on Wednesday 21 July 2022.
•  1 US Dollar will cost you R17.12; 1 Pound = R20.51 and 1 Euro = R17.47.
•  Annual consumer price inflation increased to 7.4% in June.
• The prime lending rate in SA is 8.25% per annum. This might increase to 9% today.
• Oil falls below $100 per barrel.

SLIDE OF THE MONTH: THE JSE TRACKED VOLATILE INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

The following graph illustrates how stocks have historically bounced back strongly from big 2- quarter drops, as we have just experienced. While we can’t predict that this pattern will repeat, better days may well be on the way.

Over the next few months, I will choose a fund a month and give you some insight into it. These will all be funds that we, at FC Wealth and Investments, use in our portfolios on a daily basis.

We start with the Ninety One Global Franchise Feeder Fund.

Ninety One as Asset Manager was previously known as Investec Asset Management. Why the name Ninety One? Because the company was formed in 1991.

About the Fund

The fund was started in May 1996. Global Franchise Fund has a differentiated approach to investing in quality companies. It has a long-term investment horizon of investing in world-leading companies from around the globe, many of which have long trading histories, strong brands and superior competitive advantages.

We believe the Fund has the right attributes to withstand most economic conditions with an established track record of providing meaningful participation in up markets and smaller drawdowns in down markets at lower volatility. It seeks to reduce uncertainty in an uncertain world.

You are able to get exposure to this Fund either directly as a foreign-domiciled international fund in USD, or as a rand-denominated feeder fund which invests in rands into the underlying offshore fund.
